Deadpool Movie Review

To be honest, I didn’t even know there was a new Deadpool movie coming out this year, let alone last weekend! I watched Deadpool when it was first released in theaters and I remember I sat behind three kids with their parents… it was so awkward when the nude/sex scenes popped up on the big screen! I really wanted to cover their eyes and tell their parents, “Are you joking!? Why did you bring your kids!?” I remember I didn’t love the movie but I thought it was okay.

As it turns out Deadpool is one of my co-worker’s favorite movies so with him constantly telling me that he loves Deadpool and the fact that the Deadpool sequel was just released it made me want to re-watch the first movie and give it a second chance. After all, I didn’t like Guardians of the Galaxy when I first watched it in theaters and now the GOTG movies (specifically the 2nd one) are my favorite movies!

The Characters

Wade Wilson is a very interesting character, I can’t say that I like him because truth be told, I don’t. But there is something that you kind of, sort of respect since he does seem to care about Vanessa… but I thought it was a dick move for him to leave her after he got diagnosed with cancer, that was very selfish of him. Vanessa is very pretty and I’m glad her hair grew out because the short hair did not flatter her much. I thought the inclusion of X-men characters was pretty cool though. It definitely made me want to re-watch all the X-men movies… I don’t think I have actually seen an X-men movie from start to finish because I just sort of popped in and out while my older siblings would watch them.

The Graphics & Music

There isn’t a song that specifically pops up in my head at this time but I think the soundtrack to this movie was fine. The graphics were good too but almost a little too graphic, specifically the scenes of Deadpool shooting people through the head. I’m a wimp when it comes to stuff like that.

The Story/Overall

I will admit that the little jokes about someone who’s name rhymes with Polverine/Hugh Jackman were hilarious. There was also another scene where Vanessa woke up in the middle of the night to find Wade Wilson not sleeping, claiming that he had another Liam Neeson nightmare… lmaooooo. Okay, the little jokes like that made me laugh for sure. The story itself is pretty interesting as well; besides me thinking it was a selfish for him to leave Vanessa, the whole thing of him going through a mutation gone wrong and trying to get fixed was a solid story. I ended up buying the HD digital movie since it was on sale for $9.99 instead of just renting it for $4 so I would definitely re-watch this movie later on… overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Deadpool is not my favorite Marvel character but I will say that he is a contender for my favorite anti-hero.
